About Drain and Vent
Most plumbing diagrams online are a picture someone drew once for their own house. Every layout here is a calculated system, checked before it is drawn.
How a layout is made
Each room starts as a description of where its fixtures sit, which wall they back onto, how they are vented and what the floor is. From that one description the engine works out the drains, the vents, the sizes, the falls and the fittings, and draws the room. The drawing, the plan and the counter list come from the same numbers, so they cannot disagree.
How it is checked
Before a page is built, every branch is checked against the fixture units it carries, every trap against its distance to a vent, wet vents against their size and order, AAVs against their placement, and every run against its minimum fall. A layout that fails a check is not published. The tests also include deliberately wrong layouts that must be caught.
What it is not
It is not a substitute for your local code, your inspector or a licensed plumber. Pull the permit.
